During the procedure, a thin camera called a hysteroscope is gently inserted through the vagina and cervix into the uterus. Specialized instruments are then used to carefully remove or divide the septum and restore a more normal shape to the uterine cavity.
Hysteroscopic septum resection is performed without abdominal incisions and is generally considered a minimally invasive procedure. It may involve a short recovery period, allowing many patients to return to routine activities relatively quickly, depending on the individual case.
Before treatment, a detailed evaluation is performed to confirm the presence, size, and configuration of the uterine septum. Imaging studies such as ultrasound or other appropriate investigations may be recommended to assess the uterus and guide treatment planning.
Septum resection may be considered for selected women with a uterine septum, particularly when there is a history of reproductive complications. Individualized evaluation and follow-up help determine the appropriate treatment approach and support future reproductive planning.
